BOCA RATON, Fla. - Sophomore midfielder Kari Storslett (Bakersfield, Calif.) scored her first two goals of the season in Denver's 3-0 road-win over Florida Atlantic Sunday afternoon, while freshman midfielder Katy Van Lieshout (Boulder, Colo.) added the third goal for the Pioneers.
Storslett put Denver on the board just one minute into the second half after a pass from junior defender Megan Flannery (Littleton, Colo.) set her up in the middle of the attack box. Storslett would add another goal eight minutes later on a one-timer from 15 yards out. The goal was set up by a cross from senior forward Mariah Johnston (Littleton, Colo.).
The Pioneers added another goal in the 81st minute as Van Lieshout found the back of the net on a second-chance effort.
The win boosts Denver's record for the season to 7-4-1, with the Pioneers being 3-1 in Sun Belt Conference action.
Next weekend, the Pioneers host Troy on Friday night and South Alabama on Sunday afternoon at the University of Denver Soccer Stadium. Season, group and individual game tickets are on sale now. Please visit the Denver Soccer Ticket page for more information.
