The nine Pioneer seniors highlighted Saturday’s win, including both goalkeepers making and appearance and three seniors scoring the team’s first three goals inside the opening eight minutes
DENVER – The University of Denver women's soccer program scored its three fastest goals of the season and sent its seniors off with a 4-1 win over Pacific on Saturday evening at the University of Denver Soccer Stadium.
Notes:
- Denver's three first half goals in the opening 7:28 all came from the 2026 senior class.
- The Pioneers scored twice in the opening five minutes on Saturday, having not scored in the opening five minutes since August of last season.
- Nine different Pioneers recorded at least a point in the first half.
- Denver scored at least four goals for the first time since a 4-1 last August against Southern Utah.
- The Pioneer scored five goals for the first time since September, 2024 at Southern Utah.
- Sixth-year grad senior Samantha Dreiling's opener was her first of the season and the eighth of her Pioneer career. After her second half assist, Dreiling's career point total moved to 26.
- Dreiling's goal is the 16th fastest goal in Denver's modern DI history (since 1998).
- Senior Luci Vincent scored her second goal of the season, and the third of her career in the opening five minutes.
- Dreiling and Vincent's goals came 2:50 apart, the 59th time in Denver's DI era the Pioneers have scored consecutive goals less than three minutes apart.
- Senior Kera Nguyen's two goals were her fourth and fifth of the 2026 campaign, and brought her career total to six in her Pioneer career. The brace was the first of her career.
- The multi-goal game was Denver's first since September 14, 2025 against Colorado State when Emma Thielbahr scored twice in a 2-1 win.
- Freshman Keirra Venson scored the first goal of her career from outside the box before the intermission.
How it Happened:
2' Samantha Dreiling provided an instant opener on her sixth-year senior day. Dreiling took the throw in in Denver's attacking third, and the ball was partially cleared by a Pacific defender. Dreiling ran onto the clearance, and chipped the keeper from 35-yards to net the breakthrough.
5' Denver doubled its advantage less than three minutes later when Luci Vincent cleaned up a Camila Palacios free kick from the Denver left and deposited it into the back of the net from just outside the six-yard box.
8' Denver's third from three different seniors in the opening eight minutes came from a beautiful diving header from Kera Nguyen. Kacey Harvey played a ball in Denver's attacking half to Nora Zelazny who quickly pressured the Pacific back line by putting it into a dangerous area. Nguyen dove towards her net and headed it with authority into the back of the net.
22' Dreiling looked for her second on senior day, but pulled it just wide of the left post.
28' Grace Dreiling tried to make it a sister act on her sister's senior day, but her attempt was just over the bar.
38' Grace Dreiling had a second attempt at a Denver fourth, but a kick save from Pacific keeper Ava Wells kept it out.
40' Keirra Venson did get the Pioneers fourth before halftime. Maeve Morgan played it from the Denver left into Shay Payne. Payne knocked it over to Venson who picked out the top right corner from 25-yards out to make it four for the Pioneers.
70' Sophia Elfrink came on for second-half substitute and fellow senior Jaidin Kinch. Elfrink, who spent the first four years of her career at SEMO, made her Pioneer debut on Saturday.
76' Pacific's Kaya Rosa scored the Tigers' first goal of the evening off assists from Sadie Fletcher and Yohonna Bell.
85' Denver responded with its fifth on a corner kick. Nguyen originally went over to the flag with Drieling to take the set piece, but it was Dreiling that served a beautiful ball in the box, and Nguyen's head was golden for the second time in the match, finding the far corner for her first career brace.
