DENVER - University of Denver women's soccer players Mariah Johnston (Littleton, Colo.), Kaitlin Bast (Centennial, Colo.) and Lara Campbell (Anchorage, Alaska) were all named to Colorado Soccer Now's 2009 All-Colorado Team.
Johnston, a team co-captain, led the Sun Belt Conference with 13 assists and three game-winning goals during conference play, and her 16 points were tied for third. The senior midfielder scored or assisted on the game-winner in five of Denver's nine conference victories, including the final three regular season games. As a freshman forward, Bast led the Pioneers with 12 goals and 31 points, both second in the SBC, and she was second on the squad and third in the conference with seven assists. Bast earned All-SBC First Team honors and All-SBC Tournament, at which she also was named the Most Outstanding Player. The forward was named Sun Belt Player of the Week on both Sept. 15 and Sept. 29.
Campbell, a freshman goalkeeper, earned a spot on the All-SBC Tournament Team after allowing just one goal in three tournament games. Campbell recorded six shutouts in her eight Sun Belt regular season games, the best ratio in the conference, and ended the year with nine shutouts. Campbell started all 21 games in which she played, compiling a 15-4-1 record with a 0.88 goals against average.
