Box Score PITTSBURGH, Pa. University of Denver women’s lacrosse junior midfielder Ali Flury (Arnold, Md.) scored five goals with one assist, and senior attacker Steph Coyne (Baltimore, Md.) had a hat trick and two assists, leading the Pioneers to an 18-15 victory over Binghamton in a neutral site contest in Pittsburgh, Pa., on Friday.
No. 20 Denver (2-2) jumped to a 14-7 halftime lead, as Flury scored a hat trick in the game’s first 15 minutes. Binghamton fought back in the second half, scoring the final five goals of the game, but the Pioneers’ lead proved insurmountable. Lisa Illig led Binghamton (0-1) with four goals and an assist.
Senior midfielder Karen Morton (Adelaide, Australia) added three goals, and freshman Becca Steinberg (Millersville, Md.) scored a goal and had two assists.
The Pioneers remain in Pittsburgh, where they will face Duquesne on Sunday at 11 a.m. MT.
