Box Score PITTSBURGH, Pa. University of Denver women’s lacrosse senior attacker Megan Carver (Baltimore, Md.) scored four goals and added an assist, as the No. 20 Pioneers downed Duquesne 15-11 on Sunday afternoon.
Junior midfielder Ali Flury (Arnold, Md.) added a hat trick with one assist for Denver (3-2), and senior midfielder Karen Morton (Adelaide, Australia) recorded two goals and two assists.
The Pioneers jumped out to an early 9-1 lead with 7:06 left in the first half before Duquesne (0-4) found the net two more times before the break.
Senior attacker Steph Coyne (Baltimore, Md.) opened the second half with her second goal of the game, but the Dukes fought back with the game’s next four goals, cutting the DU lead to 10-7 at the 16:21 mark.
Denver stretched the lead with four-straight goals to put the game out of reach.
The Pioneers hit the road again next weekend for games at Mount St. Mary’s on Friday at 1 p.m. MT and Georgetown on Sunday at 10 a.m. MT.
