Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. University of Denver women’s lacrosse player Lexi Sanders (Greenwood Village, Colo.) scored a hat trick, but the No. 20 Pioneers fell to the No. 7 Georgetown Hoyas 12-8 on Sunday afternoon.
Sanders gave the Pioneers (4-3) their first lead at 4-3 with a goal at the 3:08 mark in the first half, but Georgetown (3-0) tied the game at 4-4 when Jordy Kirr found the back of the net with just three seconds remaining in the half.
The Hoyas scored twice in the first four minutes of the second half. An unassisted goal by junior midfielder Ali Flury (Arnold, Md.) brought DU back to within a goal at 7-6 with 18:23 remaining in the game, but Georgetown scored four unanswered goals to seal the victory.
Ashby Kaestner led the Hoyas with three goals and three assists, while Kirr added an assist to her hat trick.
The Pioneers return home for a matchup against No. 9 North Carolina on Monday, March 9 at 4 p.m. MT.
