Box Score MORAGA, Calif. - University of Denver women's lacrosse sophomore midfielder Lauren Ciccomascolo (Ladera Ranch, Calif.) and sophomore attacker Kara Secora (Denver, Colo.) both had four goals and two assists, as the Pioneers routed St. Mary's 18-5 in the season opener on Friday.
The Pioneers (1-0, 1-0 MPSF) opened the game with a 6-0, including a pair of goals by senior midfielder Lexi Sanders (Greenwood Village, Colo.).
After St. Mary's (0-1, 0-1 MPSF) scored, senior midfielder Ali Flury (Arnold, Md.) converted on a free position shot to give DU a 7-1 lead heading into halftime.
Freshman midfielder Kirsty Faulder (Glengowrie, South Australia) came out of the break with two of her four goals in the game, as Denver started the second half with five unanswered goals.
Denver responded to another Gaels goal, the Pioneers went on another 4-0 run.
Flury scored a hat trick, and Sanders had two goals and an assist.
