Box Score OWINGS MILLS, Md. – University of Denver women’s lacrosse sophomore Kara Secora (Denver, Colo.) had a hat trick and three assists, but the Pioneers were edged 11-10 by Albany on Sunday.
The Great Danes (6-1) jumped out to a quick 5-1 lead before the Pioneers (7-4) rallied with four goals to tie the game heading into halftime.
After Albany scored to open the second half, senior midfielder Lexi Sanders (Greenwood Village, Colo.) scored a pair of goals to give Denver its first lead of the game. However, Albany responded with a 4-1 and did not relinquish the lead.
Junior midfielder Tulley Stapp (Denver, Colo.) scored three goals for the Pioneers, while Sanders added an assist to her two goals. Senior midfielder Ali Flury (Arnold, Md.) scored a goal to extend her nation-leading streak of consecutive games with at least one point to 62 games.
Christine Grueniger and Kayla Best both had hat tricks to lead the Great Danes.
The Pioneers next travel to Berkley, Calif., to resume Mountain Pacific Sports Federation play against Cal on Fri., April 2 at 1 p.m. MT. Denver opened the season with an 18-5 victory over St. Mary’s to take a 1-0 mark in the MPSF.
