Box Score DENVER - The University of Denver women's lacrosse team extended its winning streak to five games with a victory over the Holy Cross Crusaders by a score of 12-6 on Saturday evening at the Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium.
The Pioneers were led offensively by senior midfielder Ali Flury (Arnold, Md.), who had five goals for Denver, giving her a team-high 23 on the season.
After the Crusaders took an early 2-0 lead, the Denver offense found its stride and rattled off three straight goals to take the lead 3-2 with 11:31 remaining in the first half.
The Pioneers never relinquished their lead after that, taking a 6-3 lead into the half, and scoring six more in the second half to secure the win.
Sophomore Kara Secora (Denver, Colo.) added two goals and an assist for Denver, while five other Pioneers chipped in with goals. The Pioneers outshot the Crusaders (31-26), held the advantage in ground balls (7-4), and led in draw controls (12-8).
Kat Sutton led the Crusaders with two goals, while four others added goals. Goalie Amy Martin made 11 saves in 60 minutes of action.
