NEW ORLEANS - Junior midfielder Kalie Vaughn (Fort Collins, Colo.), who scored two goals in each of the Pioneers' two matches last weekend, has been named the Sun Belt Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week, the league office announced today.
"Kalie had a great weekend and was very consistent in both games," head coach Jeff Hooker said. "She has really adapted to coming out of the midfield. Her ability to create for other players, break down players on the dribble and finish her chances very efficiently has contributed to the team's success this season."
Vaughn is tied for fourth in the SBC in points (19), tied for fifth in goals (7) and tied for sixth in assists (5) as the Pioneers have raced out to a 6-0 SBC record for the second consecutive season. DU has now won 20 consecutive conference regular season matches dating back to the 2009 season.
Vaughn recorded her 50th career point on Oct. 7 against South Alabama, and the junior forward currently sits on 57 career points (20g, 17a).
The Pioneers will continue SBC play in Florida this weekend. DU will face Florida Atlantic on Friday at 5 p.m. MT, and Florida International on Sunday at 10 a.m. MT.
