Box Score BALTIMORE, Md. - University of Denver women's lacrosse sophomore Alex Befus (Colorado Springs, Colo.), redshirt sophomore Kara Secora (Denver, Colo.) and freshman Jenn Etzel (Bel Air, Md.) all had two goals and an assist, but the Pioneers lost 20-10 to No. 5 Loyola on Sunday afternoon.
Loyola (8-0) jumped out to a 7-1 lead with 6:56 remaining in the first half before Denver (2-8) clawed back with a goal each from Befus and Etzel and a pair of scores by Secora. The Greyhounds, however, responded with eight unanswered goals to put the game out of reach.
Senior Lauren Benner (Arnold, Md.) made 11 saves in the cage for the Pioneers. Abby Rehfuss and Grace Gavin had six goals apiece for the Greyhounds, who also outshot DU 45-15 and won the draw control battle 22-10.
The Pioneers next travel to Marist on Thursday at 5 p.m. MT.
