Denver Falls 3-0 to San Jose State

Box Score

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The University of Denver volleyball team (8-8, 2-4 WAC) fell 3-0 (15-25, 18-25, 23-25) to San Jose State (8-9, 4-3 WAC) on Thursday night at Spartan Gym in San Jose, Calif.

Senior Faimie Kingsley (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led the Pioneers with 12 kills and five blocks. Also contributing for the Pioneers were juniors Brea Muhle (Columbus, Neb.) and Alex Turgeon (Cherry Hills Village, Colo.) with six kills each.

"SJSU played well out of the gate, and it took us too long to match their intensity," said head coach Jesse Mahoney. "Fai and Colleen scored well for us, but we struggled when we couldn't feed them the ball. We need to get healthy and back in rhythm as the road through the WAC doesn't get any easier.

Setter Bailey Karst (Aurora, Colo.) finished with 17 assists, while libero Kate Acker (Waukesha, Wis.) finished with eight digs.

Mary Alice O'Reilly led the Spartans with 12 kills, while Krista Miller added 10 kills.

Up next, the Pioneers travel to Logan, Utah, to take on Utah State on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. MT. Live Stats and Live Video are available.
