Pioneers Fall to No. 64 North Texas, 5-2

IRVING, Texas - The University of Denver women's tennis team fell to No. 64 North Texas by a score of 5-2 on Friday evening at Las Colinas Country Club.

The Mean Green (10-5) swept the Pioneers (8-6) in doubles to earn the opening point, and posted four singles wins to claim the victory.

Sophomore Caroline Schnell (Greenwood Village, Colo.) defeated NTU's Valentina Starkova 7-5, 6-2 at No. 3 singles, while junior Steffi Rath (Hochst, Austria) defeated Ilona Serchenko 6-4, 6-4 at No. 5 singles to claim the Pioneers' only points of the match.   

The Crimson and Gold will stay in Irving for a neutral site match with Louisville on Saturday at 10 a.m. MT.
