Pioneers Roll Past San Diego State, 19-6

Box Score

DENVER - University of Denver sophomore Gretchen Nace (Rochester, N.Y.) tied a career high with four goals, as the Pioneers rolled to a 19-6 victory over San Diego State at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium on Monday afternoon.

Freshman Jill Remenapp (Woodbine, Md.) added two goals and a pair of assists, while junior Mikayla Clark (Eden Prairie, Minn.) had her second-straight hat trick to give Denver (10-1, 4-0 MPSF) its 10th-straight win.

"I thought the reserves really did a good job of coming in, following the game plan and doing what they were supposed to be doing," said head coach Liza Kelly, whose Pioneers are 10-1 for the second time in team history, matching her first season in 2007. "This was really a team victory."

Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Hannah Hook (Arnold, Md.) made five saves in the final 41:41 after taking over for senior Ashley Harman (Boyertown, Pa.), who had three saves.

San Diego State (4-8, 1-3 MPSF) started off quickly, jumping to a 2-1 lead five minutes into the contest, but the Pioneers rattled off nine-straight goals over the following 16 minutes to take an insurmountable lead. DU out-shot the Aztecs 36-21 and held a 16-11 advantage in draw controls in the contest.

The Pioneers conclude the regular season with three road games, starting with Fresno State on Friday at 4 p.m. MT.
