SAN DIEGO, Calif.- The University of Denver men's tennis team was defeated by UAB 4-1 on the third day of the Hilton San Diego Mission Valley Spring Classic.

The Pioneers were defeated in two of three doubles matches, and trailed UAB 1-0 going into singles play.

Pioneer senior Enej Bonin (Koper, Slovenia) and UAB's David Zimmerman split sets 6-2, 4-6 before their match was called. Senior Jens Vorkefeld (Ostercappeln, Germany) picked up the Pioneers only singles victory, defeating Tom Puetz 6-2, 6-0.

The Pioneers next match is at home against UC-Santa Barbara on Saturday, March 30. The match begins at 12 p.m. (MT) at Gates Tennis Center.
