Slattery Falls in Tough Matches During ITA All-American Championships

Oct. 1, 2014

Pacific Palisades, CA- Maureen Slattery lost in an incredibly close-fought battle against Houston's #1 player and 2014 AAC Freshman Player of the Year, Depoina Vogasari 6-4, 6-7(5), 6-1. Vogasari advanced in her second round to qualify for the main draw event.

Slattery's second match was against #6 seed Kyle McPhillips (UCLA) in which she fell 6-2 and 6-2 against McPhillips, who clinched UCLA's team 2014 NCAA Championship match versus the University of North Carolina.

"Despite these tough matches, Maureen certainly showed that she deserves to be on the national stage with the best players in the country. This was an incredible experience and test for her, and will absolutely help her prepare for a successful run at Regionals," head coach Christian Thompson commented.

The next event for the women's tennis team will be the ITA Regional Championships (Oct. 15-19) in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
