DENVER- The Denver Pioneers men's soccer team protected its unblemished record at CIBER Field against the Mastodons of IPFW, defeating their Summit League foe 2-0 on Saturday night. Denver, now 8-0-0 at CIBER Field, scored both goals in the second half.
Denver's first goal came three minutes into the second half when Regan Dunk sent a crossing pass to Brian Hoyt drilled it into the back of the net. It was Hoyt's fourth goal of the season and Dunk's third assist.
With 10 minutes remaining, Denver's leading scorer, Eric Kronenberg would tally once again this time thanks to assists from Alex Underwood and Karsten Hanlin. The goal was Kronenberg's sixth of the season.
Head Coach Bobby Muuss felt good about this bounce back win for the Crimson and Gold.
"This is an important win coming off a tough road week, being away three days in the middle of the week."
The Pioneers hit the road to make their first ever visit to Omaha in Summit League play next Saturday at 6 p.m. MT.
"We want to have a good week of preparation. Omaha gave us a lot of trouble last year" said Muuss.
Denver is now 2-0-1 in Summit League Play.
