DENVER –- The University of Denver men’s tennis team added a pair of players with Colorado ties for the 2014-15 academic year, head coach Danny Westerman announced.
The Pioneers added Zach Fryer (Centennial, Colo.) and Jesse Ruder-Hook (Denver, Colo.), each is a four-star ranked recruit.
“We are absolutely thrilled to add Jesse and Zach to our program next fall,” Westerman said. “They will round out a talented freshmen class which really fits the type of players we are looking for - hard working, academically-focused players, who absolutely love the game. Both Zach and Jesse are training with great coaches in Pete Richman (Zach) and Ross Greenstein (Jesse) and we know they both will be ready to work hard when they join our team. They also happen to be some of the best talent from Colorado and we are excited they will be playing college tennis in their home state.”
Fryer attended Cherry Creek High School and is currently ranked No. 4 is the USTA-Intermountain Section. He captured the Colorado 5A high school singles and team titles during his senior prep season and is coached locally by Pete Richman.
Ruder-Hooks hails from Denver but is currently training in Southern California with coach Ross Greenstein. He is ranked No. 11 in the USTA-Intermountain Section and boasts a career-best world junior ITF ranking of No. 526.
