COMMERCE CITY, Colo. - The 2014 Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) Men's World Championships begin at Dicks Sporting Goods Park on Thursday with the opening ceremonies at 5 p.m. MT. Following the ceremonies, the host nation will take on DU associate head coach Matt Brown and Team Canada. Former Pioneers Jeremy Noble, Cameron Flint, Dillon Roy, Mark Matthews and Geoff Snider and senior Wesley Berg (Coquitlam, B.C.) will suit-up for Team Canada on Thursday. The game will air at 7 p.m. MT on ESPN2.
Following the end to his freshman season, attacker Zach Miller (Steamburg, N.Y.) and future Pioneer midfielder Brendan Bomberry (Vaughan, Ontario) will begin their tournament with the Iroquois national side against England on Friday at 8 p.m. (main stadium). Former Pioneer and former Denver Outlaw Andrew Lay will represent Team Japan, opening up against Australia on Friday at 5 p.m. (main stadium).
DU assistant coach Dylan Sheridan will be in charge of Team Thailand at the World Games, as the squad opens up its tournament against Scotland on Friday at 11 a.m. (Field 10 at DSGP).
