Feb. 21, 2015 DENVER- The No. 65 University of Denver women's tennis team (3-3) rocked the University of Nevada, Reno (3-5) Friday night at the Colorado Athletic Club on Monaco. The Pioneers defeated the Wolf Pack, 5-2.
The Pioneers earned their fourth doubles point in a row on the backs of sophomore Maureen Slattery and freshman Julia O'Loughlin. The duo clinched the doubles point, 6-2 over Morales/Delic after juniors Evy Van Genechten and Charlotte Derbyshire defeated Korzeniecki/Pavelea, 6-2.
In singles sophomore Morgan Barnhill would make the match, 2-0 after she defeated Maqusiak, 6-0, 6-0. O'Loughlin would earn the third Pioneer point when she defeated Delic, 6-2, 6-2.
Derbyshire would clinch the victory for the No. 65 Pioneers with a, 6-3, 6-2 victory over Koreniecki. Slattery would add her second win of the year on court one with a three set, 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 victory over Morales.
Denver will be back in action on Saturday February 21, at 4:00 p.m. at the CAC-Monaco.
