March 16, 2015 DENVER - Three University of Denver gymnasts were named Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference Co-Specialists of the Week, sharing the award with three others: sophomores Rachel Fielitz (Walden, N.Y.) and Julia Ross (Henderson, Nev.), and junior Maggie Laughlin (Scottsdale, Ariz.). All six gymnasts earning the honors scored a 9.900 on an event, the highest score by an eligible gymnast during the week.
Fielitz and Ross each earned 9.900 on vault, Fielitz at Air Force on Monday, March 9, and Ross at Arizona on Saturday, March 14. Each won the event titles at those respective meets. Laughlin's 9.900 came on floor during the Arizona meet, where she finished tied for second in the final event standings.
This week brings the conference award total for the Pioneers in 2015 to 11:
