DENVER -- The No. 67 University of Denver women's tennis team (9-7, 3-0 Summit League) blew through Summit League foe Fort Wayne (17-6, 2-1) Wednesday afternoon at Stapleton Tennis Pavilion. The Pioneers knocked off the Mastodons, 6-1.

Denver would start the match off by sweeping all three doubles positions, 8-3. The Pioneers would take a, 1-0 lead.

"IPFW is a solid conference opponent and they have had another good year with a 17-6 record," said Head Coach Christian Thompson. "We did a good job today getting leads early on in doubles and executed well at each position. It was nice to get this match on campus at our home courts."

With the weather looking dreary the Pioneers worked quickly early on. Sophomore Morgan Barnhill would earn the second point of the match with a, 6-1, 6-0 win over Marcy Huck on court six. Right behind her was junior Charlotte Derbyshire with a, 6-3, 6-3 win on court five.

Up three, freshman Julia O'Loughlin would earn her 13^th straight singles victory with a, 6-4, 6-1 win over Carlota Trevino. O'Loughlin has not lost in singles play since Jan. 31.

With the match in hand, junior Evy Van Genechten and sophomore Sonja Radosevic would pick up two more wins for Denver to polish off the victory. The Pioneers are now in first place in The Summit League.

The Pioneers will welcome in-state opponent No. 70 Colorado on Friday at the Colorado Athletic Center on Monaco at 7 p.m. MT.
