BERKELEY, Calif. --  The University of Denver women's lacrosse team got a career-high tying five goals from Rachael Dillon (Mount Sinai, N.Y.) as they rolled past the California Golden Bears, 17-5 on Friday evening, at Kabam Field at California Memorial Stadium.

Denver (9-4, 4-2 MPSF) improved to 2-1 on its current four-game road trip with the victory over Cal (2-12, 1-6 MPSF).

"It was awesome to get everyone on the field today," head coach Liza Kelly said. "I was really proud of how well our bench performed. Overall this was a great team win."

Redshirt freshman Nicole Martindale (Brooklin, Ontario) continued her scoring ways giving Denver a 1-0 lead just 1:35 into the game. Cal answered 22 seconds later, as Caroline Schlegel scored for the Golden Bears.

The Crimson and Gold took control of the game by going on a 3-0 scoring run as Martindale, Dillon and Jill Remenapp (Woodbine, Md.) all found the back of the net.

The Golden Bears cut the Pioneers lead to 4-2 with a goal from Bella Huther with 20:50 remaining in the first half. DU answered with a 5-0 run and kept Cal scoreless for the next 17:36.

Martindale picked up her hat-trick and 26th goal of the season on a pass from Remenapp, who picked up her 22nd assist of the season. Layne Voorhees (Alexandria, Va.) got in on the goal scoring action finding the back of the net and in the process getting her first goal of the season to give Denver a 6-2 lead. Kiki Boone (Cherry Hills Village, Colo.) scored back-to-back goals, the second being her 20th goal of the season.

The Pioneers scored seven of the final eight goals of the first half as Caitlin Derry (Seal Beach, Calif.) picked up her fifth goal of the season and Dillon added the first half hat trick with 12 seconds remaining on a pass from Remenapp to give Denver an 11-3 lead heading into the locker room.

Denver continued its scoring ways in the second half as Sarah Kasun (Bel Air, Md.) opened the scoring getting her fifth of the season. Boone became the third Pioneer to pickup a hat-trick with 27:45 remaining in the second half.

Monica Lucas (Kensington, Md.) got in on the action scoring her 14th goal of the season at the 23:21 mark of the second half. Dillon added her fourth goal of the game to give Denver a 15-3 lead. Dillon tied her career-high getting her fifth goal of the game with 8:23 remaining in a game. Ellie Knott (Baltimore, Md.) finished the scoring for the Pioneers as she recorded her first-career goal.

Goaltender Hannah Hook (Arnold, Md.) continued her solid play finishing the day with six saves and only allowing three goals, while improving to 9-4 on the season.

Notes: Remenapp picked up three assists giving her 177 for her career, one shy of tying Jen Adams for second on the NCAA all-time assist list. Dillon also scored five goals against High Point at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium on March 4, 2013.

Denver will finish its regular season road schedule on Sunday at Saint Mary's (April 19). The Crimson and Gold will return to the Mile High City to wrap up MPSF and regular season play against Oregon (April 24) and Fresno State (April 26, senior day).

For the second-consecutive season, Denver will host the MPSF Championship from April 30-May 3 at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium. Tickets to this event are currently available for purchase at the University of Denver ticket office.
