BOX SCORE

DENVER
- The University of Denver pushed its winning streak to six on Wednesday, taking down Oral Roberts 77-73 in the Summit League opener. The Pioneers' record jumped to 9-5 (1-0 Summit League) on the season with the victory while the Golden Eagles dropped to 4-11 (0-1 SL) with the loss.

The six-game streak is now the longest since the 2012-13 year.

Junior Daniel Amigo, coming off the bench, led DU with a team-high 14 points and eight rebounds in just 20 minutes.

Joe Rosga added 11 points and tied a career high with six assists.

Jake Pemberton messed around and nearly had a triple-double with nine points, eight rebounds and seven assists.

Denver worked itself to a four-point lead by the opening media timeout, highlighted by Pemberton dropping the first five of the contest.

The Pioneers kept their foot on the gas, building the lead to 13 off a long trey from Duke Douglas from the right wing at the 9:02 mark, upping his total to seven in the game.

An 8-4 run from Oral Roberts cut the DU lead back to single digits at 31-22 with five minutes remaining in the half. The run was anchored by good defense from the Golden Eagles coupled with their paint presence on the offensive end.

Denver responded and closed with a flurry, going on a 9-2 run over the final 1:42 to take a 12-point advantage heading into the locker room.

The Pioneers' defense shined in the half, holding ORU to just 39.1 percent from the field (9-for-23).

A couple of quick baskets coming out of the break allowed for Oral Roberts to claw its way back into the contest, cutting the DU's lead to seven after a layup from Albert Owens at the 15:42 mark.

An 11-2 run from Denver pushed the lead back into double figures after Thomas Neff converted a traditional three-point play to make it 62-51.

A sluggish slew of series kept it close before a big jam from Amigo provided the spark for the Pioneers and re-upped the lead back to 10 at 67-57 with under five minutes to play.

DU closed out the contest by forcing the Golden Eagles into a fouling situation to extend the game. Denver made its free throws and had a late layup from Pemberton to seal its sixth straight win.

Lucky Number Seven
The Pioneers had seven players score at least seven points in the victory. The all-around contributions turned into the most complete team performance on offense on the season.

Up Next
DU returns to the hardwood to start up 2017 on Jan. 4 with a meeting against South Dakota at Magness Arena. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. MT and can be seen on Altitude 2.
