Denver Men Ranked 52nd on ITA Poll

April 19, 2016

DENVER -- The University of Denver Men's tennis team came in at No. 52 this week on the Division I Men's National Team Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings.

The Pioneers defeated the IUPUI Jaguars 7-0 at home last weekend to remain undefeated in Summit League play and improve their overall record to 15-7.

The Pioneers went 3-0 in doubles action on Saturday along with a perfect 6-0 in their singles matches. The match was marked as Senior Day as the team honored seniors Henry Craig (Murrieta, Calif.) and David Fox (Surrey, United Kingdom) prior to the last home match of their collegiate careers.

"Obviously IUPUI has had a good run in the conference and we were both undefeated in Summit League play so far this season," head coach Ricardo Rubio said after the match. "For us to come out and play the way we did was really good. I thought we prepared really well this week in practice, the guys did a great job and I'm very happy for them. Especially for David and Henry, this was their last time playing at home, so for them to come out and perform the way they did, I'm very happy for them."

The pair of Craig and Alex Gasson (Alton, United Kingdom) came in at No. 48 on the Division I Men's National Team Oracle/ITA Collegiate Doubles Tennis Rankings.

Denver will travel to Albuquerque, N.M. next weekend to take on the University of New Mexico at the McKinnon Family Tennis Center. The match is scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m. MT.
