Omaha, Neb. - The 44th-ranked University of Denver women's tennis team defeated South Dakota State University 4-0 today in the Women's Summit League finals match at the Koch Family Tennis Center in Omaha, Neb. to claim their third straight Summit League title.
Overall, the Lady Pioneers have never allowed a point in team scoring at The Summit League Tournament, winning all four of their matches 4-0 over the past two seasons, along with the two 4-0 wins at the conference tournament this weekend.
"Hats off to South Dakota State in the doubles as they served big and played very aggressive," head coach Christian Thompson said after the match. "We knew that point would be a battle indoors.
"To cap off an incredible year with a third Summit League Championship feels very rewarding. We played extremely well in the singles matches today. It has been a great run non-conference and conference season. They have definitely earned a spot at the NCAA Team Championships."
