DENVER ââ'¬" University of Denver sophomore Joe Rosga will compete with Athletes in Action in a four-game basketball tour of Italy from August 13-20.

The team will train at Mercer University in Macon, Ga. from Aug. 9-11 before heading to Milan. Athletes in Action is scheduled to play games against teams from Italy, Lithuania and Kosovo with some sight-seeing time in Como and Venice.

Mercer head coach Bob Hoffman will lead the team, which is comprised of 10 student-athletes. Rosga will have a Colorado connection on the squad, as he will be joined by University of Colorado junior Tory Miller.

"Joe has embarked on a phenomenal experience," Denver head coach Rodney Billups said. "I am anxious to hear from him and to see the results of this trip to Italy. So many times college basketball players play against the same competition all summer and don't get any better. Joe has the opportunity to play against some of the best talent and competition around the world. He also has the opportunity to learn from a great coach in Bob Hoffman."

Rosga has spent the summer in Colorado working out and assisting with local basketball camps. The St. Paul native played and started 29 games as a freshman for the Pioneers while leading the team in scoring, averaging 12.7 points per game.

Aug. 14 - Game 1 vs. Italy Select Team in Pesaro

Aug. 16 - Travel to Venice, walking & boat tour
Aug. 17 - Game 3 vs. Kosovo National Team
Aug. 18 - Off Day in Como

Aug. 20 - Return to the United States
