March 13, 2017 NEW YORK - Senior attackman and 2016 Tewaaraton Award Finalist Connor Cannizzaro has been named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday. Cannizzaro helped Denver regain the top spot in the national polls after a last-second goal to defeat then-No. 1 Notre Dame.

Cannizzaro scored the game-winning goal in the last second of Sunday's game against then-No. 1 Notre Dame, a defense that allowed just four goals against the previous No. 1 Maryland the week before. Cannizzaro extended his active point streak to 47 games with two goals and an assist in the 11-10 win over the Irish. Cannizzaro scored 144 goals over his career, second among active players and 218 points, also second among active players. With the Denver win, the Pioneers jumped in the national polls from No.4/5 to No. 1 in both the USILA and Inside Lacrosse rankings.
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Trevor Baptiste, Denver, Jr., FO (Denville, N.J.)
Won 19-of-24 from the dot and picked up 12 ground balls in Denver's win over then-No. 1 Notre Dame. With 12 ground balls, Baptiste broke Denver's career ground balls record.
