DENVER – University of Denver women's soccer freshman forward
Samantha Feller (Grand Junction, Colo.) has been named to the Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week, the publication announced on Tuesday.
Feller scored three goals, including both game-winners in the opening weekend of Summit League play to lead the Pioneers to a perfect start to the eight-match league schedule. The Denver freshman scored the opener in the 21
st minute in Denver's 2-0 win over South Dakota on Friday before recording her second multi-goal match in three matches to lead Denver past Omaha 3-1 on Sunday afternoon.
Tuesday's award is Denver's second national honor of the season, with sophomore midfielder
Meg Halvorson (Englewood, Colo.) earning Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week honors on September 4.
Denver now has 11 goals by freshmen this season, including five from the Pioneers leading scorer in Feller. In addition, 14 of Denver's last 16 goals have been scored by underclassmen, including all five goals last weekend.
