DENVER – Former University of Denver men's lacrosse offensive midfielder Erik Adamson (Anaheim Hills, Calif.) has been named the program's volunteer assistant coach, head coach Bill Tierney announced on Thursday.
 
"Welcoming Erik Adamson back to University of Denver is such a great honor for us," head coach Bill Tierney said. "He succeeds Ryan LaPlante and Jeremy Noble, both DU grads who served our team in great fashion as volunteers the last three years. As a player, Erik was a guy who could do it all on the offensive half of the field, and he will enhance the individual skills of our players dramatically. He is smart, energetic and has great insight into the game. We look forward to the coming year with Erik helping the Pioneers achieve great things both on and off the field!"
 
As a player, Adamson helped lead the Pioneers to their first National Championship in program history in 2015, exiting the program fifth in DU history in points (146), fourth in goals (111), fourth in shots on goals (184) and third in man-up goals (20). Drafted in the second round by the Chesapeake Bayhawks in 2015 before being traded to Denver, Adamson scored 35 goals and tallied nine assists in that senior season, earning USILA Honorable Mention All-America honors. Adamson also earned the NCAA's Elite 89 Award (now Elite 90) in his junior year.
 
The California native has previously spent two seasons coaching at Regis Jesuit High School as the offensive coordinator, finishing runner-up in 2017 before winning the Colorado State Championship last spring. Adamson coached with Denver Elite during his collegiate career, and then took a brief break before re-joining the LXTC staff in the fall of 2016. In the box, Adamson coached the Stoneflies in the 2018 Colorado Collegiate Box Lacrosse League last summer.
