Play suspended in second round due to darkness
PARKER – Despite cold temperatures and wet conditions, the University of Denver golf team finished up day one of the second annual Paintbrush Invitational at the Colorado Golf Club. The Pioneers posted a team score of 312 in the first round.
Play was suspended due to darkness in round two.
Par for the 7,513-yard course was 72.
Colorado State sits in first after one round of play at 1-under, eight strokes ahead of Colorado and Loyola Marymount.
Head coach Erik Billinger went with the lineup of Jun Ho Won, Esteban Missura, Carson Griggs, Cal McCoy and Jackson Solem.
Roy Kang, John Sand and Eric Hagen will compete, but as individuals.
Kang battled the elements well for the afternoon, being a bright spot on a cloudy day for the Crimson and Gold, tying for 10th at even par through his first run through the course.
Won was the low man for DU on the day, closing out the opening round tied for 23rd at 3-over.
McCoy wrapped up his first round in a tie for 45th at 7-over.
Missura sits tied for 61st after 18 holes of play.
Griggs and Solem are in 34th and 65th respectively.
Final-day coverage is set for Tuesday.
