BALTIMORE – The University of Denver men's lacrosse team has placed four student-athletes on the 2019 Inside Lacrosse Preseason Media All-America Teams that were announced today as part of the 2019 Face-Off Yearbook.
Junior
Ethan Walker (Peterborough, Ontario) and redshirt-senior Maryland transfer
Matt Neufeldt (Naperville, Ill.) were both voted to the second team, senior close defenseman
Dylan Gaines (Baltimore, Md.) earned a spot on the third team and senior offensive midfielder
Colton Jackson (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) was named to the honorable mention squad.
Earlier this month, Denver was voted seventh in the country in the 2019 Inside Lacrosse Preseason Top-25.
About the 2019 Pioneers:
The Pioneers return their top-three point getters from a year ago, including junior
Ethan Walker (Peterborough, Ontario), who tallied 70 points on 48 goals and 22 assists in 2018. X-attackmen
Austin French (Danville, Calif.) earned 60 points with 29 goals and a team-high 31 assists, while
Colton Jackson (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) chipped in 22 goals and 12 assists for 34 points from the Denver offensive midfield.
Denver also returns all three close defensemen in
Dylan Johnson (Englewood, Colo.)
Dylan Gaines (Baltimore, Md.) and
Colin Squires (West Linn, Ore.) from a defense that finished third in the country in scoring defense, allowing 7.88 goals per game a year ago.
The 2019 Crimson and Gold will be captained by French, Jackson, SSDM
Danny Logan (Upper Arlington, Ohio) and Johnson. Denver announced its 2019 schedule in November, a slate that includes BIG EAST home games against Georgetown, Villanova and Providence and the 2019 BIG EAST Men's Lacrosse Championship.
