DENVER – University of Denver men's swimmers
Patrick Groters and
Adriel Sanes will be representing Aruba and the US Virgin Islands, respectively, from December 11-16 at the 14
th FINA World Swimming Short Course Championships. The meet will take place in Hangzhou, China.
Former Pioneer
Anton Loncar will once again represent Croatia in the competition, swimming in the 100 and 200 backstroke.
Groters holds 11 national records for Aruba and one Caribbean Island Championship record. Sanes finished 35
th in the 200 breast (2:20.92) and 41
st in the 200 IM (2:09.20) at the FINA World Championships, while also representing his country over the summer in the 2018 Mel Zajac Jr. International.
Locnar finished fifth in the 200 back at the 2017 European Short Course Championships. At the 2017 FINA World Championships, Loncar took 27
th in the 200 back and 29
th in the 100 back.
TOGETHER 4 COLORADO TOY DRIVE:
The Pioneers have partnered with CBS4 for the Together 4 Colorado Toy Drive to support the Denver community during the holiday season. Beginning Nov. 17, there will be toy drops at every Denver Athletics and Newman Center event thru Dec. 19. Additionally, there will be a Community Shop 'n Drop on Saturday, Dec. 15 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., hosted by the Denver Cheerleading squad at the circle drive on the north side of the Ritchie Center.
