DENVER – University of Denver redshirt-senior outside back
Mary DeWalt (West Bend, Wis.) has been named the Summit League Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
DeWalt helped lead a Denver defense that allowed just three shots on goal combined against South Dakota State and North Dakota State last week, a pair of matches that saw the Pioneers first clinch the No. 1 seed in the Summit League Tournament before winning the regular season title outright on Sunday.
Denver enters the week fourth in the country in shots on goal allowed with 42 in 18 matches, behind only Virginia, Stanford and Monmouth.
The Denver redshirt-senior also scored the game-winner in her final home match at the University of Denver Soccer Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
