Pioneers Mourn the Loss of Grant Munro

DENVER - The Denver Pioneers community mourns the loss of hockey alum and 1961 All-American Grant Munro, who passed away at 83 on Dec 30, 2019.

Munro had 22 goals and 46 assists for 68 points in 92 games as a defenseman for the Pioneers from 1958-1961. The Regina, Saskatchewan native helped Denver to back-to-back National Championships and WCHA Championships in 1960 & 1961. Munro also helped guide the Pioneers to victories against the U.S., Swedish and German national teams as well as ties against the U.S. and Soviet Olympic teams.

In lieu of flowers, the Munro's family requests contributions to Denver Hockey. For more information please contact Kaley Rickert (kaley.rickert@du.edu).
