DU Finishes Up Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate

Sand with lowest finish of the season
PALM SPRINGS, Calif. – The University of Denver golf team closed out the final day of play at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate on Sunday. The Pioneers shot a team score of 16-over on the round.
DU's three-day total finished at 35-over, putting them in 13th for the 54-hole event.
Par for the 7,305-yard course was 72 at the Classic Club.
John Sand was the Crimson and Gold's low finisher of the tournament, taking 20th at 4-over, his best finish of the season.
No. 18 Texas Tech used a late comeback to hold off Boise State for the team title by a stroke at 6-under.
On the individual side, the Broncos' Skyler Eubank won individual medalist honors at 9-under, two strokes ahead of the nearest competition.
Head coach Erik Billinger went with the lineup of Cal McCoy, Esteban Missura, Carson Griggs, Jun Ho Won and Sand.
Jackson Solem, Eric Hagen and Roy Kang also competed, but as individuals.
McCoy had his best round yet of the tournament, recording a 1-under 71 on the scorecard in his final 18 holes. The former Regis standout tied for 37th at 6-over.
Missura had his toughest outing in the three-day event, shooting a 6-over 78 to close in a tie for 50th.
Griggs wrapped up his round tied for 101st.
Ho Won posted an 81 on Sunday.
Hagen went low and fired a 1-under on the last day of competition, putting the junior in a tie for 29th.
Kang put up a 2-over 74 for a second straight day.
Solem bounced back with a 75 on the afternoon.
Denver is back in action for the Bandon Dunes Championship on March 10 in Bandon, Ore.
