Denver Claims Four BIG EAST Awards; Eleven Named All-Conference

DENVER – The No. 15 Denver women's lacrosse team claimed four of the six major BIG EAST postseason awards, and had 11 student-athletes named to the 2019 All-BIG EAST Conference teams the league announced Wednesday. The awards came just one day before the Pioneers are set to face Villanova in the BIG EAST Tournament Semifinal in Milwaukee, Wis.

Sophomore Quintin Hoch-Bullen was named the BIG EAST Attacker of the Year, senior Katherine Fischer was tabbed BIG EAST Defender of the Year, junior Carson Gregg got BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the year, and under the leadership of Liza Kelly, the Denver staff was honored as BIG EAST Coaching Staff of the Year.

Hoch-Bullen earned Attacker of the Year after totaling 45 goals, 56 points on 84 shots through 15 games this season. She averaged a .798 shot on-goal percentage and ranked No. 40 in the NCAA with 3.0 goals per game average. The Ontario native tabbed her 100th career point on April 6 against Georgetown, a feat accomplished after just 32 games. No stranger to BIG EAST honors, Hoch-Bullen was named Attacker of the Week back on April 8.

Fischer was a unanimous selection for Defender of the Year after accumulating 31 ground balls and causing 27 turnovers this season. Fischer helped the Pioneers become one of the toughest defenses in the NCAA, ranking No. 1 in scoring defense (6.67) for the last four-consecutive weeks. The New York native was named BIG EAST Defender of the Week on April 1 after limiting the Old Dominion offense to just one goal on March 30.

Gregg tabbed Goalkeeper of the Year for her efforts in 15 games this season, totaling 690 minutes in net and making 74 saves. The Maryland native boasts the lowest goals allowed (84) in the conference, and sits at No. 1 in the nation with 7.30 goal-against average, her third week atop the standings.

Kelly, alongside Tee Ladouceur, Brittany Read and Megan Zeman, were a unanimous selection for Coaching Staff of the Year. As Kelly nears the end of her 13th year at the helm of the program, she adds yet another winning season to her record book. Earlier this year the Crimson and Gold checked in at No. 9 in the IWLCA Coaches Poll after defeating [then] No. 4 Stony Brook, the team's first top-five victory and highest ranking in program history.

Denver garnered seven First Team All-Big East honorees in Maddie Baum, Elizabeth Behrins, Molly Little, Eliza Radochonski, Fischer, Gregg and Hoch-Bullen. Four more Pioneers were placed to the Second Team All-BIG EAST in Julia Feiss, Hannah Liddy, Kennedy Milburn, and Audrey Schreck.

The Crimson and Gold's 11 All-BIG EAST honorees were the most of any school in the conference.
