Kristen Hamilton Earns First U.S. Women’s National Team Call-Up

Hamilton receives her first national team call-up as the team prepares for its victory tour matches against Portugal

CHICAGO (DU/U.S. Soccer) – Former University of Denver women's soccer forward Kristen Hamilton has earned her first call-up to the U.S. Women's National Team, U.S. Soccer announced on Monday.

Denver's all-time leader in points (138) and goals (51) will join the U.S. Women's National Team for its upcoming Victory Tour matches against Portugal.

Hamilton, 27, was named as an overage player to the U.S. Under-23 WNT roster that is headed to England for the four-team Nordic Tournament but will instead join the USA on the Victory Tour for her first senior team call-up. Her eight goals for the second-place Courage are tied for third in the NWSL.

The 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup champions will face Portugal on Thursday, Aug. 29, in front of a record crowd at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia (7 p.m. ET; FS1, FOX Sports App) and Tuesday, Sept. 3, at Allianz Field in St. Paul, Minn. (7 p.m. CT; ESPN2, ESPN App).

Hamilton is the only NCAA Division I student-athlete in any sport to ever be named player of the year in three different conferences.
