DENVER – University of Denver gymnastics senior Maddie Karr (Stillwater, Minn.) was named the Big 12 Conference co-Gymnast of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
 
Karr captured four titles on Saturday during the Metroplex Challenge, a meet that featured three teams that were ranked in the top five nationally and four teams in the top 20. The Denver senior tied for the all-around title with a 39.650 while also earning at least a share of the bars, beam and floor titles.
 
Among her scores was a near-perfect 9.975 on bars, which matched her career high. It contributed to DU's final bars score of 49.500, the highest Denver has ever scored on the event in an away meet and the second-highest score in program history.
 
She won a share of both the beam and floor titles as well with a 9.900 on each. Her 39.650 in the all-around matched the highest score by a Big 12 gymnast this week.
 
This is the ninth Big 12 weekly award of Karr's career – including eight Gymnast of the Week honors -- and her first of the season. In total, Denver now has three weekly awards from the conference in 2020.
 
The University of Denver gymnastics team, presented by Your Hometown Toyota Stores, returns to Magness Arena on Sunday, February 2, against Air Force and Ball State at 2 p.m.
