DENVER – University of Denver men's lacrosse freshman faceoff specialist Alec Stathakis (Northville, Mich.) has been named to the USILA National Team of the Week, the coaches' association announced on Tuesday.
 
Stathakis went 22-for-28 from the faceoff dot, picking up 15 ground balls in the Pioneers 14-11 win at No. 10 Notre Dame on Saturday. The Denver freshman won all eight third-quarter faceoffs, sparking goals on four-consecutive possessions during the Pioneers decisive 7-0 run.
 
Earlier this week, Stathakis was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week.
 
UP NEXT:
The Denver men's lacrosse program, Presented by Your Hometown Toyota Stores, will head to Ohio State Sunday for a 12 p.m. ET/10 a.m. MT faceoff. The game will air either on BTN or BTN+, and will be broadcast on ESPN Denver 1600.
