LOUISVILLE – The University of Denver men's lacrosse team placed five student-athletes on the 2021 USILA Preseason All-America teams, the coaches' association announced on Wednesday.
Jack Hannah was named to the USILA Second Team;
Jackson Morrill,
Ethan Walker and
Danny Logan earned spots on the third team and
Colin Squires was named to the Honorable Mention list.
Hannah led the Pioneers in their six-game 2020 campaign with 27 points on 17 goals and 10 assists, including recording the program's 21
st Division I sock trick, scoring six and adding an assist against Duke. Hannah added four more points in games against North Carolina and Notre Dame.
Morrill enters his first year with the Denver program after four seasons at Yale. The Baltimore native ranks second in Yale's program history in career points with 220 and fifth in goals with 113. Morrill enters the campaign with the second longest active point streak in Division I at 55 games.
Walker scored 15 goals and added 10 helpers in Denver's six games last year, highlighted by a four-goal, two-assist performance in Denver's season finale at No. 10 Notre Dame. The Peterborough, Ontario, native was named to the 2020 Tewaaraton Award Watch List, and ranks third in DU history in career points with 219, fourth in goals at 142 and fourth in assists with 77.
Logan was named to the 2020 Tewaaraton Award Watch List and was an Inside Lacrosse All-America selection a year ago. He played in all six games for Denver, picking up 15 ground balls and forcing seven turnovers. Logan is two ground balls away from cracking the top-10 in DU history, and is currently eighth in caused turnovers with 34.
A now four-year starter at close defense for
Bill Tierney's squad, Squires enters the campaign with 54 career ground balls and 18 career caused turnovers. Squires was limited to just two of Denver's six games a year ago, picking up three ground balls and forcing a turnover in Denver's 14-11 victory at No. 10 Notre Dame.
