DENVER – University of Denver women's soccer forward
Natalie Beckman was selected 48
th overall (Rd 4/Pick 10) by the Portland Thorns in the 2021 NWSL Draft on Saturday.
Beckman earned her third United Soccer Coaches' All-Region honor last month, and her second-consecutive first team recognition. The two-time Summit League Offensive Player of the Year tallied 28 points on five goals and a program record 18 assists this season to extend her Denver career assists record to 47. Beckman ended the season with a point in each of her last 11 games. Beckman was a four-time all-league honoree and a three-time Summit League First Team award winner.
The Denver, Colo., native is the third Pioneer to be drafted in the NWSL, joining
Cheyenne Shorts, who is now with the Celtic FC Women, and
Kristen Hamilton, who currently plays with the Kansas City Current.
