PRINCETON, N.J. – The University of Denver Swim and Dive team got some good performances on Sunday, finishing up the Big Al Invite. The Pioneers placed third in the women's performance and fourth on the men's side for the weekend.
The Crimson and Gold are one of seven teams in competition along with host Princeton, Utah, George Washington, Rutgers, Columbia and Texas Christian.
The women's swim team finished up the prestigious event third with a three-day total of 639 points. Leading the way on the final day of play for the Pioneers was
Natalie Arky, who posted an NCAA B qualifying time in the 200 back at 1:53.27.
Jessica Maeda had it going in the 200 breast, posting the fifth-fastest time in school history with at 2:14.19.
Mia Moulden posted the fifth fastest time in program history in the 200 fly at 2:00.66.
For the men, Denver had multiple solid performances on Sunday on the way to a fourth-place finish of 529.5 points. Leading it off was
Brandon Chapman in the 200 fly (1:46.46), recording a NCAA B qualifying time with the fifth fastest time in school history. Chapman's time was one of multiple fastest times in school history on the day with
Dylan Wright posting the fifth fastest in the 200 back (1:45.33),
Darragh Mahns with the eighth fastest in the 100 free (44.27).
Marco Nosack (1:59, seventh),
Joseph Purdy (1:59.29, eighth),
Alex Lynch (2:00.32, ninth) in the 200 breast.
Kieran Watson posted the 10th fastest times in the 1000 (9:26.39) and 1650 free (15:30.13).
DU returns to action on Jan. 8 at Wyoming.
