DENVER – Sophomore
Britt Pursell of the Denver Pioneers women's tennis team was named Summit League Player of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Pursell went 2-0 at #3 singles and 1-0 at #2 doubles in Denver's 5-2 win vs. Kansas and 4-2 loss to Kansas State last weekend. In singles play, the Oceanside, Calif. native won 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 vs. Carmen Roxana Manu (Kansas) and 6-1, 6-2 vs. Margot Decker (Kansas State). In doubles play, Pursell teamed up with senior
Camille Verden-Anderson to win 6-2 at #2 vs. Decker/Ioana Gheorghita (Kansas State). The tandem's doubles match vs. Kansas was unfinished.
Pursell is 3-2 in singles and 3-1 in doubles this year. She was named Named ITA Mountain Region Rookie of the Year last season.
Denver looks ahead to four straight home matches beginning with a matchup on Saturday, Feb. 20 vs. BYU at the Denver Tennis Park.
