Series History
The Pioneers are 31-10-5 all-time against the Mavericks. Denver split its series at Omaha on Jan. 23-24, ending a 19-game unbeaten streak against the Mavericks with a 5-2 loss on Jan. 24. 

What's Next
Denver will travel to Grand Forks, N.D. for a two-game series vs. North Dakota on Feb. 12-13. 

Snap Shots
  • Denver was originally scheduled to play a road series at North Dakota this weekend, but the dates for the upcoming North Dakota and Omaha series were swapped. The Pioneers will travel to North Dakota for the road series originally slated for Feb. 5-6. Denver's series vs. Colorado College on Jan. 1-2 is the only series in the second half of the season that was played as scheduled
  • Lane Krenzen's younger brother, Nolan, is a freshman defenseman for Omaha. Lane & Nolan have played against each other only once before at Cedar Rapids RoughRiders (USHL) training camp. Lane was not in the lineup for the Pioneers on Jan. 23-24. 
  • The Pioneers have outshot their opponent in 12 of 16 games including each of the last six. The Crimson & Gold have fired 30 or more shots in eight games and 35 or more shots in two games
  • Denver ranks 9th in the NCAA in shots on goal/game margin (+6.06). The Pioneers rank 4th in the NCAA in shots against per game (25.0). Carter Savoie leads the team and ranks 4th in the NCHC in shots (60). He leads the team and ranks 3rd in the NCHC in shots/game (3.75)
  • Jaakko Heikkinen has one goal and four assists in his last four games. Steven Jandric has four assists in his last six games. Slava Demin has three goals and one assist in his last six games
  • The Pioneers had 10 alumni on 2020-21 NHL Opening Day rosters: Danton Heinen, Troy Terry (Anaheim Ducks), Ian Mitchell (Chicago Blackhawks), Trevor Moore (Los Angeles Kings), Will Butcher (New Jersey Devils), Scott Mayfield (New York Islanders), Jason Zucker (Pittsburgh Penguins), Dylan Gambrell (San Jose Sharks), Tyler Bozak (St. Louis Blues) and Paul Stastny (Winnipeg Jets). Logan O'Connor (Colorado Avalanche) and Dakota Mermis (Minnesota Wild) are traveling with their NHL teams as members of their taxi squads
  • The Pioneers are wearing jersey patches with the letters "JB" honoring the late Joy Burns whose vast contributions to DU included becoming the first woman to chair the University of Denver Board of Trustees, which she did for 17 years, making direct contributions to the physical transformation of campus and helping the athletic department move to Division I
