- Due to combination of positive COVID-19 tests, contact tracing and subsequent quarantining of individuals, Denver travels to the Frozen Faceoff for their first game in 14 days with 16 skaters and three goalies. The Pioneers tested for nine consecutive days (March 3-11) prior to their practice day on March 12
- For the first time in history, the NCHC Frozen Faceoff will be played in a single-elimination format in Grand Forks, N.D. Quarterfinal winners will be re-seeded before the semifinal round. Denver enters the tournament as the fifth seed based on its points-per-game (1.409). Per NCHC policy, the conference uses points-per-game to determine the final order of the standings and seedings for the NCHC Tournament where teams do not complete all 24 games. Denver and Minnesota Duluth are the only two-time winners of the NCHC Frozen Faceoff (2014 & 2018). The Pioneers are 19-6-1 all-time in the Frozen Faceoff and 12-2 in the quarterfinal round
- Who's Hot: Antti Tuomisto: Three-Game Point Streak (1-3-4). Carter Savoie: Three-Game Point Streak (2-2-4). Denver's PK: 93% (28/30) in the last six games
- Carter Savoie was one of three unanimous selections for the NCHC All-Rookie Team. He had 12 goals and seven assists for 19 points in 22 regular-season games. The St. Albert, Alberta native and Edmonton Oilers prospect paced NCHC freshmen in goals and shots (77), placing second in rookie scoring behind St. Cloud State's Veeti Miettinen. He also led conference rookies in power-play goals (6) and game-winning goals (3), which he scored against North Dakota on Dec. 8, Colorado College on Jan. 2 and Colorado College on Feb. 27
- Magnus Chrona & Antti Tuomisto were named NCHC Goalie & Rookie of the Week on March 1. Tuomisto had one goal and two assists in the series vs. Colorado College, while Chrona went 2-0-0 with a .981 save percentage, 0.50 GAA and 29-save shutout
- The Pioneers retained the Gold Pan for the 15th season and second straight year with a 3-1-0 record in the regular season series vs. Colorado College. The final two games of the series set for March 4 & March 6 were cancelled with no ability to reschedule prior to the Frozen Faceoff. DU & CC have played two fewer games (22) than the other six teams in the conference
- The Pioneers have outshot their opponent in 16 of 22 games including nine of the last 12. The Crimson & Gold have fired 30 or more shots in 10 games and 35 or more shots in four games. Denver ranks 12th in the NCAA in shots on goal/game margin (+5.82). The Pioneers rank 4th in the NCAA in shots against/game (24.6).
