Denver Heads to Kansas City for Two-Match Series

The Pioneers will take on their new conference mate for the first time since 2009

DENVER –

Who: Denver at Kansas City
What: Match 5 of the delayed 2020 season
Where: Durwood Soccer Stadium (Kansas City, Mo.)
When: Thursday, March 18 and Saturday, March 20 at 6 p.m. MT

Last Time Out:
Denver controlled most of the possession but couldn't find the back of the net in a 1-0 loss to nationally ranked Oral Roberts. The Pioneers were scheduled to play at Omaha on March 13, but the match was postponed due to the winter storm in the Denver area last weekend.

DI Series History:
Denver is 4-2-0 against Kansas City, having not played KC since 2009. Denver and Kansas City met every season from 1999-2003, and then didn't play again until 2009. KC won the first and last meeting between the two programs, with Denver winning the four in the middle. The last five meetings have been decided by one goal.

What's Next:
Denver will head to Eastern Illinois next weekend. The April 1st series opener is set for 12 p.m. MT, followed by an 11 a.m. MT kickoff of April 3.  

Other Notes:
-          In October, Denver was recognized for recording the top men's soccer grade point average in the country for the fourth time in the last five years.
-          Head coach Jamie Franks is in his sixth season in charge of the Pioneers, posting a 69-23-13 record.
o   Denver is 104-40-21 since Franks arrival as an assistant prior to the 2012 season.
