TEMPE, Ariz. – The University of Denver men's tennis doubles tandem of
James Davis and
Matt Summers is ranked 20
th in the country in the 2021 ITA Men's Tennis Preseason Doubles rankings, the association announced on Tuesday. Davis is also in the men's tennis singles rankings released by the ITA, sitting at 74
th heading into the upcoming season.
Summers and Davis are in both the singles and doubles draws at the 2021 ITA Men's All-American Championships to be played this October in Tulsa, Okla. Davis was put into the singles main draw at the Pioneer duo will also play in the doubles main draw. Summers was put into the singles qualifying draw for the late fall tournament.
Davis is a two-time All-Summit League selection, and was ranked inside the top-100 heading into the 2021 NCAA Tournament. The Denver graduate student was 14-4 in singles, including a 6-1 record on the No. 2 court.
Summers is a three-time All-Summit League performer and was ranked inside the top 100 for most of the season in doubles with partner
James Davis. Summers finished 11-6 in singles play, including a 9-1 mark on the No. 3 court a year ago.
