BALTIMORE – The University of Denver men's lacrosse team had three players selected to the Inside Lacrosse Media Preseason All-America teams, the publication announced on Thursday.
Jack Hannah was named to the first team, while fellow Pios
Alex Simmons and
Alec Stathakis were named Preseason Honorable Mention All-Americans.
Hannah, who on Wednesday was named the BIG EAST Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, is a two-time Inside Lacrosse Media First Team All-America, putting up 27 points on six goals and 17 assists in the six-game shortened 2020 season before netting 37 goals and adding 10 helpers in the 2021 campaign. The 2022 USA Lacrosse Magazine Preseason Midfielder of the Year earned First Team All-NCBS Honors this summer and enters his final campaign with the Crimson and Gold with 108 points on 70 goals and 38 assists.
Simmons was a Midseason Honorable Mention All-America selection a year ago, positing 31 points in the first six games of the season, including five-goal outbursts at Providence and at St. John's to go with a four-goal performance in a 10-9 win at Marquette. Heading into his true senior season, the 2021 OJLL Player of the Year has 84 points on 51 goals and 33 helpers.
Stathakis enters his junior season with a 280-for-444 mark from the faceoff dot in his career, clipping at 63.1% with 158 ground balls. The 2021 All-BIG EAST selection went 191-for-301 last year with 110 ground balls.
