DENVER  – University of Denver Men's Basketball head coach Jeff Wulbrun announced the signing of Deandre Craig on Wednesday. The incoming freshman has signed his National Letter of Intent to continue his academic and athletic career with the Pioneers.  
 
"We are thrilled to sign Deandre Craig to an NLI today," Wulbrun said. "He is a great fit for our program, culture and university. Deandre chases excellence on and off the court and is excited to begin his studies at DU next fall. As a player, he is a true point guard, a leader, and a very unselfish player, who makes his contributions felt in so many ways, both offensively and defensively. 
 
"He is a jet with the ball creating opportunities for himself and his teammates in transition using his quickness and speed. He plays with a great basketball IQ in the halfcourt, reading defenses and making the right play for his team. He's excellent at attacking the paint and using ball screens. He is well coached and comes from a very successful program in Chicago, Mt. Carmel High School. Deandre is a great addition to our program."
 
A 6-foot-1 point guard from Chicago, Craig brings playmaking and speed to the Pioneer backcourt next year. He has starred the past few years at Mt. Carmel High School, a prestigious basketball school in the Windy City. Craig averaged 19.9 points per game last year to go with 5.7 rebounds and 3.8 assists. Not just an offensive weapon, the speedy guard got into the passing lanes, swiping 2.1 steals per game.
 
Craig has been a first team all-state selection to go with being first-team all-city selection in his high school career. Craig is also set to become the top scorer in his school's history for basketball this upcoming season.
 
Craig chose the University of Denver because it felt like home on his visit, and is a place that he can grow academically and athletically.
 
The Pioneers are currently back in action for the start of the 2022-23 season.
